Drinking Soju after 40s.

Drinking Soju after 40s.

Until I opened Aura3am, I didn't really enjoy drinking.

Especially hard liquor such as soju, vodka, or whiskey - it was terrible :(

When I worked for LG Logistics, I had business dinners more than three times a week. In Korean corporate culture, drinking is often part of building relationships. Many times, it felt more like an obligation than a choice.

Because of those experiences, I never understood why people enjoyed alcohol.

To me, it was just a bitter taste with a strong smell. I drank because I had to, not because I wanted to.

And honestly, soju was usually the last thing I would choose.

If I had a choice, I preferred beer or makgeolli. They felt easier and more enjoyable.

Things changed after I started Aura3am.

Running my own business is stressful sometimes, but it also gave me something I never had before: freedom.

Now, when I drink, it is because I want to. Not because my boss is sitting across the table. Not because I have to impress a client. Not because everyone else is drinking.

A small glass of soju after work feels completely different.

The taste did not change.

I changed.

Today, I enjoy many kinds of alcohol, including whiskey and other hard liquors. And surprisingly, soju has become my favorite.

Maybe because it reminds me of home.

Maybe because it reminds me of conversations with friends.

Or maybe because it represents a different stage of my life—one where drinking is associated with freedom rather than obligation.

That is actually the reason why I named my dog Soju.

Many people think it is a funny name, and it is.

But for me, Soju represents comfort, friendship, and enjoying life's simple moments.

Just like my dog.

Now when someone asks me about my favorite drink, the answer is simple.

Soju.

And when someone asks me about my favorite dog, the answer is also simple.

Soju.

So I gotta get back to home for Soju dinner.... (But not many, only half bottle once per week)
